Liberty Weeps - Poem

Liberty quietly speaks;

remember the ideas for which the flag is flown.

Believe that all are equal, leave not behind anyone.

See all of them as deserving of joy, life, and liberty. See their hearts are longing for the chance to be free.

Don't honor that without meaning, but hear the masses call The symbol alone has now power without liberty for us all.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.

My heart answered;

I need your lamp lifted beside that golden door for all including me.

A bright beacon for those lost at night, a guide that they may be free.

I am the huddled masses, the refuge; Thru the tempest I have gone.

With hopes yearning for the breath of freedom to fill my lungs.

I see within your gentle words the manny changes I must make

It's meaning is for both great and small I will not discriminate.

So with tears, I type this; of both joy and sorrow.

Please remember if you have forgotten

Please learn if you are ignorant.

Or the idea of liberty is lost.

We are lost.
